Associate Lecturer in Secondary Education at Sheffield Hallam University

The Role

For teaching delivery, the Institute of Education is organised into varied subject areas. We are interested in applications for the Secondary Education area with a specialism in Secondary Social Sciences 14-19, Music or Computing. The role will include responsibility for teaching, learning and assessment of students at post-graduate level. The role includes working with partners within secondary education settings who provide placement experience for our trainee teachers. The ability to inspire, motivate and connect with students from a range of different backgrounds is essential, as is the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Becoming an AL can be an excellent introduction to teaching in higher education. Applicants should hold Qualified Teacher Status with suitable practitioner experience as well as a passion for inspiring and developing the next generation of teaching professionals. You must have a postgraduate qualification and/or substantial professional experience in a relevant discipline and expertise in teaching within the secondary. The ability to design and deliver transformative and innovative learning experiences is also essential. Work is carried out on a flexible basis and working patterns may vary from week to week.
