Design Studio and Curriculum

Our design studio serves as a critical platform for developing unique forms of practice upon graduation. The project-based pedagogy is complemented by historical, theoretical, and technical seminars. Here, students are introduced to a wide range of design research methods and approaches. Each program offers opportunities for external engagement, interdisciplinary collaboration, and fieldwork, aligning with the pedagogical ambitions of both students and staff.

Purpose of Role: Associate Lecturer

The Associate Lecturer (AL) will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality teaching and tuition to enhance the core teaching of interior studies.

Applicants should have expertise in the field of interior design and be able to articulate their experiences in relation to our three Superplatforms:

  • superREUSE
  • superMATTER
  • superFUTURES

Role Profile: Associate Lecturer

As an Associate Lecturer at the Royal College of Art (RCA), you will contribute to postgraduate teaching and tuition, enriching the core delivery of programs across Schools and Directorates. ALs bring leading industry expertise and specialism from diverse disciplines and sectors, ensuring students benefit from a breadth of knowledge and multidisciplinary input during their studies.

Depending on the specific scope of your employment, you will be required to:

  • Deliver high-quality teaching and tuition as directed by your Senior Tutor, Head of Programme, or Dean.
  • Integrate industry expertise into the curriculum to provide depth and diversity in program learning.
  • Engage in interdisciplinary collaboration and external engagement to enhance the educational experience.
  • Support students in developing their material, conceptual, and technical skills.
  • Contribute to the formation of a rich network of creative partnerships for students.
