Job description: We are seeking to appoint an Associate Professor or Lecturer in Accounting who will undertake research and teaching in the broad area of Accounting with associated responsibilities in administration.
The post holder will be required to contribute to the delivery of BA Accounting programme in collaboration with Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) in China. This successful programme which started in 2013 is being delivered at BIT campuses in Beijing by a combination of Henley and BIT staff. The post holder will spend a semester each year teaching at BIT and contribute to teaching and other related activities in Reading for the remainder of the year. Whilst all the teaching and work can be carried out in English, the postholder should be prepared to live in a Chinese-speaking environment as well as cultural and urban living conditions in Beijing during the secondment to BIT.
This post is designated as teaching and research.
Main duties and responsibilities
A successful appointee is expected to contribute to research, teaching and administration, commensurate with either the post of Associate Professor or Lecturer depending on their profile and suitability. The appointee is expected to:
- Conduct independent research in the area of Accounting and Financial Management;
- Teach a range of modules in the broad area of Accounting and Financial Management, primarily in undergraduate and pre-experience master’s programmes as agreed by the Head of Business Informatics, Systems and Accounting (BISA); ability to teach financial accounting or auditing will be an advantage;
- Take on administrative duties and academic citizenship activities as well as academic leadership roles as appropriate;
- Liaise, as appropriate, with academic and administrative staff at BISA as well as at BIT.
- Provide support to the operation of BA Accounting programme at BIT.
- For appointment as Associate Professor, have a strong track record in high quality research, publications and leadership experience, amongst other qualities and experiences expected for the senior academic role.
