The Safety Team within TUI Airways operates as a multi-disciplinary team of experts driving the continuous improvement of the airline’s Safety Management System and overall Safety Performance.

As aviation analyst your focus is on the day-to-day processing and analysis of safety data from across the airline, feeding into the Safety management System. This includes data from the Safety Reporting Database, the Flight Data Monitoring Database, Safety surveys, Operational Safety Audit data etc.

The Aviation Analyst is responsible for ensuring the timely creation and delivery of trend data packs to the various operational areas as part of the airline safety management system safety meeting structure. As analytical specialists the Aviation Analyst will be expected to support airline projects and initiatives as required through the production of data derived evidence.

In this role, you’ll report to the Safety Analytics Manager.

ABOUT THE JOB

As Aviation Analyst you’ll be responsible for

  • The daily administration and maintenance of the Flight Data Monitoring and Safety Reporting Database systems including the creation and publication of reports to the appropriate departments
  • Identifying and processing isolated or significant safety incidents or occurrences
  • Identify potential trends within the data and escalate as required
  • Produce trend packs and other data analysis as requested by the operational areas to support safety improvement
  • The integrity and maintenance of the airline’s safety reporting database through accurate data entry and processing, and regular quality checks
  • Contribute to the coordination and publication of feedback information to TUI UK & I employee groups and produce company safety communications in line with the company’s Safety Management System
  • Attend internal and external meetings as a company representative in support of the airline’s safety management system
  • Responsible for delivering specialist software training and support as well as safety management system training to TUI UK&I colleagues
  • Support the Flight Data monitoring team in ensuring that flight data monitoring returns are maximised through early identification of hardware failure, on the aircraft or on the ground, and coordinate appropriate actions to resolve the issue
  • Contact crew members regarding safety reports when requested
  • Participate and support with projects within Flight Operations or the wider airline will be needed as required
  • Understand, embrace and work towards the Safety, Compliance and AOC departments’ goals and objectives

  • Data analysis skills
  • Proven organisational skills with the ability to deliver to set deadlines
  • Excellent software skills and the ability to train on specialist software programmes
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Being a team player
  • Highly motivated and able to work under own initiative
  • Proven oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of aviation terminology and airline operations
  • Interest in Safety Management in aviation
  • Educated to degree level, ideally in an aeronautical or data analysis related topic or proven experience working in the analysis of aviation related data
  • Role requires strong business English, both spoken and written, and may involve some international travel
