Permanent Opportunities Available – Pay based on £11.85 per hour.

Area: Penarth

Our Specialist SEN Branch are currently working in partnership with an Independent Specialist School based in Penarth. The school itself offers day and residential placements for students aged 7 – 19. The students can struggle to access education due to the complex trauma and emotional difficulties, that they may have faced previously. The school also cater for children with Additional Learning Needs including Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism or other Learning Difficulties.

This Specialist School pride themselves on developing student’s emotional wellbeing and social skills in school to ensure they are able to access society & the community in an appropriate manner. The aim is to develop students to be effective learners, so they are able to implement coping strategies for their lives in or out of Education. They do this through a focus on establishing positive and healthy relationships, emotional wellbeing and developing social skills. This specialist school have a continual recruitment cycle where they have the need for additional members of staff right throughout the academic year. We are in the process of starting their next recruitment cycle in readiness for January 2024. We support their own recruitment process where, if both you and they are happy, you will transfer onto a permanent contract directly with them.

This is an ideal opportunity for anyone who is fancying a change in career or if you have a keen interest in behaviour and/or psychology. Previous experience in supporting young people or adults with complex needs is beneficial but not always necessary. We find some of the best behaviour support officers are the ones who want to get stuck into their role and have the right personality to build strong, meaningful relationships with both the learners and the staff team around you.

The Ideal Behaviour Support Officer will have:

  • A strong sense of humour
  • Ability to use your initiative in situations that may challenge.
  • Background in either sports, psychology, mental health, support work, youth work and/or Additional Learning Needs or have an interest in supporting vulnerable people.
  • Have a passion for making a difference.
