About this role
We seek to appoint a Bid Developer and Writer with expert knowledge and expertise in European Union (EU) funding and interdisciplinary funding programmes. The role holder will be responsible for identifying and supporting the development and submission of EU funding applications (primarily Horizon Europe) across all disciplines and hold specialist knowledge about EU funding opportunities. They will champion interdisciplinary working, and support bidding for interdisciplinary funding programmes.
The role holder will work closely with academics and stakeholders to support the development and submission of EU and interdisciplinary grant applications – supporting the growth of impactful, inclusive, and engaged research at UWE Bristol. They will provide University-wide specialist expertise in EU and interdisciplinary funding opportunities.

About you
You will have an excellent understanding and awareness of European Commission research and innovation funding, and experience of successfully bidding for EU funding. You will be a passionate, supportive and engaged colleague, with a professional approach in line with UWE’s values (ambitious, collaborative, inclusive, innovative and enterprising). You will have proven experience and a track record in supporting researchers and their collaborators to develop applications for and secure EU funding.
You will provide training and advice to colleagues to build EU funding capacity across the University. As a highly skilled communicator and planner, you will project manage the development and submission of complex funding applications, ensuring deadlines are met and funder requirements are adhered to.

This role is part of the professional service, Research Business and Innovation (RBI). RBI is a dynamic, friendly department with a strong team ethos and comprises approximately 90 staff. RBI supports, develops, and enhances the University’s framework for research, grant bidding and post-award management, professional development, and business engagement. This is a fixed-term post until March 2026, working 37 hours per week.
