Job description: We are looking for an HCPC registered biomedical scientist to join our team in this busy, friendly immunology laboratory. Applicants must have post registration experience in a UKAS accredited immunology laboratory. They should have IBMS specialist diploma in clinical immunology (or equivalent qualification) or be close to completion.Main duties of the jobThe Immunology Laboratory service is based at the William Harvey Hospital, Ashford and provides a centralised service for the Kent and Medway Pathology network. Equipment includes Sebia capillary and gel electrophoresis systems, Seimen’s BNII, Phadia Immunocap 250 and Aesku Helios immunofluorescence slide processors.About usWe are one of the largest hospital trusts in England, with fivehospitals and community clinics serving a local population of around 800,000 people.   • Knowledge of advances in Clinical Immunology in an ISO 15189 accredited laboratory.
  • Knowledge/Experience of Quality Management systems including CAPA and Audits.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of conventional IT software e.g. Apex LIMS

Skills and experienceEssential

  • Post registration experience of working in an ISO 15189 accredited Immunology laboratory
  • Able to demonstrate competency in appropriate Immunology laboratory techniques.
  • Numerate and laboratory based evidence of being able to undertake scientific calculations.

Desirable

  • Experience across all areas of Immunology.
  • Effective communication skills with other health care professionals.
  • Well-developed analytical skills.

Qualifications and trainingEssential

  • State Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Biomedical Science Degree or equivalent Post Graduate Diploma
  • Completion of specialist portfolio in Clinical Immunology or equivalent qualification. e.g. MSc in Immunology
  • Applicants who can evidence that they are 3 months to completion of their Specialist portfolio will be considered

  • Evidence of CPD

  • Be self-motivated and work hard towards objectives. Ability to work as part of a team and develop effective relationships.
