We have an exciting opportunity for a Fixed Term, Full Time, Business Analyst to join Southampton City Council in the Strategy and Performance – Projects and Change Team.

As a Business Analyst at SCC, you will provide analysis expertise to projects and programmes by applying practiced tools and techniques, ensure that the status quo is challenged, that new approaches are aligned to SCC design principles, and that proposed solutions are fit for the future. Your role will be instrumental in supporting delivery of positive outcomes and will have a significant impact on the city’s growth and prosperity.

You will have:

  • Solid experience in a business analysis role, preferably in a public sector or local government setting.
  • A proven track record of delivering the key accountabilities and duties outlined above.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including collaborative working.

Key Accountabilities & Duties:

  • Challenging, defining, and documenting business, system, or process requirements using appropriate techniques.
  • Identifying and agreeing metrics (including benefits and measures of success), measurement approaches, and baselines.
  • Data interrogation and translation/presenting in a format that is widely understandable and providing analysis, data, and information to support decision making.
  • Developing and documenting solutions, ensuring stakeholders are fully engaged.
  • Producing estimates of analysis activity and impact assessments.
  • Producing acceptance criteria agreed with relevant stakeholders and monitoring achievement of those criteria.
  • Contribute to ensuring scope, products, and deliverables are delivered to agreed time, cost, quality and compliance objectives.

  • Please note the salary quoted is based on full time hours (37 hours per week).
  • This post is fixed term for 2 years.
  • Please note that appointments are usually made at the bottom of the salary scale.
