Job description: CK Group are recruiting for a Business Development Director on behalf of a leading provider of consultancy services to the Healthtech industry, to be based from their site in Sedgefield, Co. Durham, on a hybrid working basis. This is a permanent, full time position.

About the role:
We are looking for a talented and experienced individual to develop and lead the commercial delivery for transformative and large opportunities including pre-competitive collaborative programmes (Grand Challenges). This is a unique opportunity to build commercial growth, build growth in new markets – arising from new geographies, technologies, skills, and services.

The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing a business winning culture ensuring the commercial success of the organisation in the identified target market sectors.

The BD Director will work along the business to test and validate opportunities at idea stage, build relationships and credibility with key stakeholders and deliver commercial growth.

Your Responsibilities will include:

  • Acting with an entrepreneurial mindset, validating and piloting new business models to enable the sustained growth of new HealthTech business.
  • Developing and implementing a HealthTech Business Development Strategy that:
  • Tests and validates significant opportunities, including grand challenges with the market
  • Attracts, builds relationships and secures new potential key customers and partners for grand challenges
  • Monetises expertise, IP and capabilities developed under grand challenges
  • Building a strategic senior level network of stakeholders across academia, government, and industry at pace, work alongside key opportunities and grand challenge umbrella to raise market awareness, key influencers and potential customers.
  • To create and lead a Business Development team to successfully deliver the outcomes of the HealthTech Grand Challenge Business Development Strategy translating ideas and concepts into commercial value offerings that deliver revenue and profit growth to CPI and capability development/Impact to UK industry.
  • To develop a detailed understanding of government, industry, market & customer expectations and be seen to represent and promote the HealthTech brand as a credible subject matter expert to build strong client relationships built upon trust, respect and industry knowledge.

This role will operate primarily across the UK and EU and has the opportunity for travel further afield.

About you:
To be considered for the position you should ideally have the following skills and expertise:

  • Educated to a minimum of degree level, or possess equivalent experience, in a life sciences or related discipline. PhD qualified candidates are encouraged to apply
  • The ability to communicate to the industry at a senior level.
  • Success in exceeding sales targets and other key sales metrics.
  • Fluency with CRM solutions and business development processes

The successful candidate would need to be in possession of a full UK driving licence as you will be expected to regularly work at other sites depending on business needs.
