Job Description
Join our team as a Business Intelligence Analyst and play a crucial role in delivering a top-tier Business Intelligence service to our esteemed university. In this position, you’ll take the lead in proactively developing and refining our business intelligence portfolio, ensuring that stakeholders across the university have access to valuable insights that drive informed decision-making.
As part of your responsibilities, you’ll collaborate closely with the Head of Insight and Analytics, taking charge of specific focus areas and guiding the development of our colleagues through training and mentorship.
Your efforts will directly contribute to the availability, understanding, and utilisation of business intelligence tools and data, empowering our university community to excel in their respective roles.

Responsibilities
- To deliver high quality analytical solutions of performance to stakeholders across the University, ensuring the clear delivery of key messages and interpretation of performance (both written and verbal)
- To enhance and develop the use of internal and external data, including the scrutiny of performance trends and the use of benchmarking to measure performance against competitors and the sector
- To evaluate datasets and explore factors influencing performance outcomes, ensuring that opportunities and risks are clearly communicated to appropriate staff within the University in order to facilitate evidence-based decision making
- To ensure the continuous improvement of the current Management Information and Business Intelligence portfolio, identifying opportunities to streamline processes whilst maintaining a comprehensive delivery of performance data
- To work closely with subject matter experts across the University to gather a clear understanding of Management Information and Business Intelligence requirements and develop appropriate proposals for service development to meet their business needs
- To increase and improve the use of Business Intelligence tools amongst internal stakeholders, improving access to information by developing high quality content and a customer focused service with clear communication and guidance for users
- To provide accurate and timely provision of ad hoc management information and analysis to internal stakeholders, working in partnership to understand and deliver required business understanding

About You
- Proven experience in business intelligence or data analysis
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, or similar languages
- Expertise in data visualisation tools like Tableau or Power BI
- Familiarity with data warehousing concepts
- Collaboration with stakeholders to understand business needs
- Ability to identify trends and insights from complex data
- Previous involvement in training colleagues in BI tools
- Strong track record of delivering actionable insights
