Job title: Business Manager (Government)
Company: Baringa
Job description: Business Manager (Government)About Baringa:
We set out to build the world’s most trusted consulting firm – creating lasting impact for clients and pioneering a positive, people-first way of working. We work with everyone from FTSE 100 names to bright new start-ups, in every sector. You’ll find us collaborating shoulder-to-shoulder with our clients, from the big picture right down to the detail: helping them define their strategy, deliver complex change, spot the right commercial opportunities, manage risk, or bring their purpose and sustainability goals to life. Our clients love how we get to know what makes their organisations tick – slotting seamlessly into their teams and being proudly geeky about solving their challenges. As a Certified B Corporation®, we’ve proven that we’ve built social and environmental good into every bit of what we do.We have hubs in Europe, the US, Asia and Australia, and we work all around the world – from a wind farm in Wyoming to a boardroom in Berlin. Find us wherever there’s a challenge to be tackled and an impact to be made. Our consulting services and operations team:The CSO team, and specifically the Sector Business Management team within it, has a very wide range of activities supporting the realisation of strategic priorities, from supporting recruitment and business development through to identifying margin leakage and opportunities for improved resource utilisation. These roles benefit from the full support of the wider Baringa Enablement team, including a wide range of systems and tools, all of which are leveraged fully to the benefit of the sector or geography in question. What you will be doing
- Support the COO and Sector lead in the delivery of their objectives and in the coordination of sector-wide activities and communications (e.g. strategy updates, OKRs)
- Steer the GOV leadership team towards the achievement of the sector objectives – with emphasis on strategic priorities, rather than day to day operations – by driving conversation, offering constructive, challenging questions & probes and managing the agenda and governance of the GOV leadership forums
- Support the COO in regular review and reporting of progress towards agreed strategic priorities (through mechanisms such as the OKR framework) , including developing and sharing management information and insights, leadership communications and so on
- Support the Sector COO and leadership team through the management of sector level data sets and sourcing of information from which relevant insights and management information can be drawn. Work closely with Sector and central teams to marry local MI/KPI reporting requirements with the availability and cadence of data from centrally managed systems and tools, avoiding duplication of reporting or analysis.
- Support the Sector leadership with revenue / margin growth, ensuring that key operational activities (e.g. rate card reviews, pricing models, strategic account reviews etc.) are effectively carried out and outcomes implemented.
- Work with the leadership team and Baringa Enablement Marketing team to keep the sector aligned and on track to its committed campaigns and GOV commercial and marketing plans
- Work alongside the COO in order to embed the Commercial Champion forum in order to ensure there is the right level of focus on commercial aspirations (rates) and discipline (i.e. debtors), but ensuring that accountability for this and the drive towards these ambitions is at the Business Unit level rather than the Sector
- Create links between supply & demand and future recruitment pipeline to ensure a forward-looking view of future skills and experience requirements informs recruitment planning.
Your skills and experience
- Experience in a professional services or management consultancy environment
- Experience of developing or streamlining processes and tools to support business expansion
- Experience and knowledge of using Microsoft Excel and ability to interpret, enhance and optimise MI reporting
- Experience in shaping, mobilising and executing change programs across multiple stakeholders
- Expert relationship building and network creation
- Ability to research, analyse and present information with a high level of attention to detail
- Numerate and comfortable working with spreadsheets and financial trackers etc.
- Proficient in PowerBI or ability to learn
