About the role

Do you want to make a difference in children’s lives in a financial capacity processing invoices and raising orders working in Children’s Services and join the Business Support Team. The role will join the Business Support Management Team of Locality Social Care & Family Assessment supporting social worker colleagues and managers in the protection of children and support to families in the community.

We are seeking a Business Support Assistant with knowledge and/or experience in finance. The successful candidate will ideally have knowledge and/or experience in procurement (invoicing), raising purchase orders and undertaking petty cash transactions and reconciliation, hold a corporate credit card and dealing with a busy and diverse workload supporting children and families for the West of the county. Training will be provided if you do not reach all the requirements with an experienced finance assistant. Use or knowledge of SAP accounting would be beneficial, although training will be provided. We will be moving to Oracle accounting system in the near future.

The job role can be full time with candidates being prepared to work full time office based between County Hall, Lewes and St Mary’s House, Eastbourne with travel costs being paid between the two sites. Or, this post can be a job share with two part time assistants: one working in Lewes and one working in Eastbourne. You should be organised and work in a methodical way providing financial support to our clients and staff. Have experience dealing with distressed and volatile clients via telephone within a child protection environment. Please note that this post is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Additional information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.
