Job Description
Due to an internal secondment, we are seeking a professional, confident, and highly organised Cashiers Manager for a minimum 12-month fixed-term contract. We are providing a competitive salary, inclusive of 35 days of annual leave per year (plus Bank Holidays) and a designated Christmas shutdown period. In this job, you’ll manage the Team Leader and a senior team member. Additionally, you’ll supervise a team of 10 staff, helping with day-to-day support for students and staff dealing with cashiering and financial transactions. You’ll also provide financial information, advice, and guidance.
This role is a great chance to be part of our Finance team during a period of transformational change. You’ll lead the team and make sure our staff and students get exceptional customer service.
In this role, you will:
- Lead the Finance Service & Support team, overseeing all cashiering operations, back-office administration, and continuous control and compliance activities.
- Ensure the accurate and timely processing of income, manage Manchester Met University bank statements and reconciliations, and oversee outgoing payments.
- Collaborate closely with teams across Manchester Met to establish improved working practices, streamline manual processes, and enhance overall efficiency through automation.
- Manage the University’s payment acceptance channels, including card payment terminals and online payment facilities.
- Implement ongoing training programs to ensure effective resolution at the single point of customer contact.
- Analyse situations, exercise sound judgment, and operate within a commercial remit, providing clear and accurate guidance, support, and direction to the team and the University.
The ideal candidate will:
- Demonstrate the capability to lead and nurture a well-established, hardworking team, showcasing strong teamwork skills and providing robust support.
- Bring substantial experience in team management, highlighting adept leadership, coaching, guidance, and motivational skills.
- Have a proven track record in managing a cashier team, overseeing the reconciliation of daily bank statements amidst a high volume of transactions.
- Possess experience in daily interactions with banking institutions, adept at building and maintaining excellent working relationships.
- Excel in communication, fostering strong internal and external relationships.
- Be proficient in advanced Excel skills and data manipulation; essential for the role. Experience with SAP, Oracle, or another Finance database system is desirable.
- Approach work with a self-motivated, professional, and proactive attitude.
Hybrid working is offered for this role with 2-3 days per week campus based, though flexibility is required at busy times and to cover periods of leave.
