Our client Scottish Power Renewable are seeking a Principal CDM Design Coordinator for an ongoing contract roles based in either London or Glasgow.
The Role
Reporting to the Principal Engineering Manager/ Principal Designer of the EAH Project
Responsible for monitoring the development of the design ensuring CDM compliance throughout the lifecycle of the project, where hazard identification and safety is a priority. They must ensure that all designers working on the project comply with their duties under CDM ensuring that they co-operate with each other and that designers liaise with the Principal Contractor (PC) for the duration of the project.
Responsible for engagement with multiple Subcontractors to ensure the interface management is understood and implemented from procurement through to handover of the project. Monitor performance of multiple Subcontractors against the Interface Management Plan.
Main Duties
The principle activities of the CDM Design Compliance & Interface Engineer will be:
- Take part in developing and ensuring Project procedures are followed including, but not limited to CDM Procedure, Design Management Plan, Hazard Management in Design, Interface Management Plan.
- Support the Interface Manager in coordinating the interfaces (terminal points) between the project’s Working Packages and Contracts of the project.
- Manager/Principal Designer to maintain the Pre-Construction Information, Pre-Construction Interface Matrix and Pre-Construction Interface Register.
- Review question for Tenderers relating to project procedures for each Subcontract works package and evaluate the tender returns.
- Take part in design meeting to oversee the development of the design from a CDM compliance aspect.
- Support subcontractor interface meetings to ensure actions and decisions are understood and recorded.
- Monitor and report on performance and progress of subcontractor interface meetings and CDM management deliverables
Experience
- Degree qualified within a relevant Engineering discipline
- Chartered Engineer (or working towards) and Membership of an appropriate professional institution, or equivalent experience.
- Experience including engineering roles on delivery of large multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects
- A Site Engineering or Design Management background in multi-disciplinary work packages.
- People management skills and strong communicator to collaborate effectively with the wider project team including Clients, Third Parties, Subcontractors and Contract Managers
- Competent on MS Office and Document Management Systems
