Job description: We are looking for Pharmacy Technicians to join our friendly and enthusiastic clinical team in delivering great healthcare from great people. Base site will be discussed at interview. Current vacancy may be based at William Harvey or Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital.Working will be through the following rotations:Surgery, Acute medical unit, and general and specialist medicine.This post is suitable for newly qualified Pharmacy Technicians, those with a community pharmacy background, or those who do not have any Clinical Pharmacy experience as full training and support is provided to help develop your knowledge and skills.Our Pharmacy department strives to deliver exceptional patient care with help from its dedicated Operational and Clinical teams.We are a holistic team that recognises the contributions each of our team members makes and we actively encourage involvement in service development.Main duties of the jobThe main responsibilities of the successful candidate will include:
- Completing detailed lists of medications a patient was taking prior to admission and reconciling this with the medications prescribed on the chart.
- Evaluating suitability of patient’s own drugs for use whilst in the hospital environment.
- To participate in the discharge planning of patients with ward staff and other healthcare professionals both in secondary and primary care.
- To counsel patients on new or changed medication to help promote compliance.
- Completing audits.
Experience of working in a hospital pharmacy environment is desirable but not essential as all training will be provided.The post includes working shifts between 8am and 7pm including weekends and bank holidays.About usWe are one of the largest hospital trusts in England, with five hospitals and community clinics serving a local population of around 800,000 people. - NVQ in Pharmacy Services level 3 with BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science as underpinning knowledge or equivalent.
