Job description: Communications and Digital OfficerSalary £30,514 – £36,282 pa.Full timeAre you a dab-hand with digital communications? Are you skilled at social media? If so, we want to hear from you!As a key member of the Communications Team, you will be dealing with both internal and external communications, including social media, online engagement tools, graphic design, email marketing, news articles and press engagement. The main purpose of the role will be designing and delivering communications campaigns, with a focus on digital solutions and content.Working with local government communications offers you the chance to work on important issues while also making a real difference to the community. We want a creative, enthusiastic and motivated communications professional who can delivery fast-placed, innovative and engaging comms.Your excellent people skills and ability to work with all stakeholders internally and externally will mean you’ll thrive being part of a high profile and visible team. You will be working in a complex environment under tight time pressures, dealing with a range of subject matters across all services.You must have an understanding of the media landscape, campaign creation, video production and writing press releases.We continually look to develop and improve the communications and engagement services we provide and there’s plenty of scope to take the initiative. If you are an enthusiastic, multi-tasker, who enjoys a varied workload – this could be the perfect opportunity for you.This post is identified as a hybrid post supporting both office and home working in line with Spelthorne Borough Council’s policy. The post holder will be required to attend the office in line with a rota and any service requirements.The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for customer facing posts. These posts fall within the scope of the Code of Practice on English language requirement for public sector workers. The Council, therefore, has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
