We are looking for a Community Housing Worker. (Internally known as Specialist Support Worker) to work predominately in Gloucester with our Community Based Services Team.

The type of person we are looking for:

It would be great if you have knowledge of local services and experience in housing/benefits.

However, all these things can be taught.

The main thing we are looking for is someone who enjoys working with people, is willing to learn and be proactive.

No two working days will ever be the same. You could be:

  • Supporting someone who is experiencing housing difficulties.
  • Helping a family resettle into a more suitable home.
  • Assisting someone to maximise their income and claim benefits.
  • Empowering people to access community groups, employment, and training opportunities.
  • Facilitating drop-in sessions.

The service operates primarily between 9am-5pm Monday to Friday, and we can discuss flexible working for you if required.

There will be times when you will need to drive within your role. Therefore, access to your own transport is needed.

Hours: Full-time hours (37.5 hours per week) – Hybrid Home and Office working

Contract: Permanent

Location: Gloucester

Pay: £22,000 per year starting salary (based on full-time 37.5 hours per week)

*Annual Leave entitlement will be pro-rata for Part-time staff. Working on public holidays due to a rota pattern will be compensated with time off in lieu. An extra day of leave accrues for each completed financial year (capped at 5). Purchasing additional holidays is capped at 5 per year.

**Contracted staff only. Business mileage (45p a mile) is paid for any daily miles over and above the distance from your home to the allocated workplace location and back. You’ll need a well-maintained vehicle with valid tax, MOT and Insurance covering business use.
