Job description: We’re looking for an engaging and effective community outreach coordinator to deliver regional drop-ins for Wessex Water customers and liaise with local communities

We have two roles available; one will mainly cover Bath and Wiltshire and the other will mainly cover Somerset and Dorset. Please note on your application which role you are interested in.

What you’ll do

The Community Outreach Coordinator will report to the Head of Community Engagement and will work within the wider Community and Communications (previously PR) team who provide internal and external communications, digital, design, community, recreation and educational services within the Wessex Water Group.

You will co-ordinate and deliver the community drop-in sessions for customers. This will include:

  • regular weekly travel across the region and may require some weekend and out of hours working.
  • confident customer support and engagement face-to-face
  • following up customer enquiries on a range of topics including bills
  • resolving queries that arise from customer enquiries
  • local networking and promotion of the drop-in sessions
  • training, development and project admin
  • other support as required for the Community Engagement and Public Relations team.
  • reporting on customer engagements, processing invoices, and creating reports.

The applicant must have a driving license and permanent access to their own car. Car allowance and mileage will be included. Please note this will be 4 days a week (FTE 0.8) – home-based with a requirement for minimum of one day a month at head office (Claverton Down, Bath).

What you’ll need

  • Experience in customer support and community engagement or public relations
  • Proven experience in face-to-face engagement with customers
  • Experience working with colleagues across a range of disciplines.
  • Experience in dealing with local voluntary and statutory community organisations.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, negotiation, and multitasking skills
  • High level of customer-service focus
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office applications – Word, Teams, Excel, Outlook
