Purpose

Established in 1986, City in the Community is Manchester City’s official charity. We support people across Manchester by empowering healthier lives through football. Our programmes place physical and mental wellbeing at their core, whilst also creating healthy futures and healthy communities.

The purpose of the Community Outreach Officer – “Holiday provision & Volunteering” is to design and lead the delivery of Community Outreach programmes, specifically our holiday provision and volunteering within community settings. The Community Outreach Officer will be a strategic lead across the foundation, supporting staff CPD and ensuring delivery across all programmes is inclusive and addresses inequalities and barriers to participation, healthy meals and employability.

Accountabilities * Leading a robust holiday activity programme across multiple venues in Manchester; designing and implementing quality workshops and activity curriculums that positively impacts physical and mental wellbeing of young people in Manchester through football.

  • Leading the 93:20 volunteering programme ensuring the highest quality curriculum, workshops and mentoring framework are designed and implemented to enable positive outcomes for participants and opportunities for pathways into employment.
  • Responsible for inclusive recruitment and effective onboarding of volunteers and a seasonal casual workforce. Assessing and coordinating appropriate training and development across those groups to ensure engagement, educational and compliance needs are met.
  • Working collaboratively across CITC departments to ensure effective rota planning, line management, training and handover of a full-time workforce assigned to the holiday provisions.
  • Utilising coach development assessments, volunteer mentoring and monitoring and evaluation tools to ensure quality assurance of programmes.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Sound experience of project management.
  • Experience of coaching community-based programmes, specifically around holiday provision, and volunteering or mentoring.
  • Solid experience of working in and liaising with schools, community organisations, facility partners, local government departments and external funding partners.
  • Hold or be working towards a minimum Level 2 Coaching Certificate in Football or Multi-skills.
  • Experience and knowledge of working within a brand environment and understanding the responsibilities that are associated with representing a Premier League Football Club
  • Experience of working as part of a team to achieve joint outcomes.
  • GCSEs in English, Maths and Science
  • Competent across Microsoft office
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Understanding of City in the Community Foundation and its projects
  • Knowledge of the holiday activity fund and it’s purpose
  • Creative and passionate about continuous improvement
  • Resilient and adaptable to change
  • Excellent and inclusive team-working abilities

Desirable

  • Degree level education
  • Coaching Level 2 qualification in one other relevant sport.
  • Knowledge and experience of Youth Work theories and practise.
  • Specific knowledge of mentoring, youth engagement
  • and/or disability/Girls programmes
  • Experience in operating booking systems
  • Remote line management
  • Experience of managing a team
  • Presentation skills
  • Experience of delivering CPD sessions for wider team.
