Job description: We have a career in store for you – An exciting opportunity has arisen at our Cheadle Shop for a Community Shop Manager to lead our shop team of two dedicated colleagues and seven volunteers.

Dougie Mac operates over 20 community shops across Stoke on Trent and North Staffordshire as well as having a recycling centre, warehouse and an online offering via eBay. Collectively our retail operation generates over £5 ½ million each year to help fund Dougie Mac’s hospice care services.

We’re looking for someone who would thrive from working in a fast-paced environment, motivated by the knowledge that their hard work makes a difference. Our Shop Managers are proactive, driven and commercially aware individuals who enjoy engaging and inspiring a small team of staff and volunteers with the aim to deliver excellent customer service and to achieve the shop annual income budget.

Our Community Shop Manager will need:

  • Experience of managing/supervising a team of people in a busy retail environment
  • Knowledge of payment handling and EPOS till operations
  • Personable skills to inspire and motivate a team of shop staff and volunteers
  • The ability to work towards income targets and to motivate others to achieve those targets
  • Working knowledge of what makes excellent customer service
  • Creativity skills with commercial awareness
  • Visual merchandising skills
  • An awareness of the price, value and worth of items
  • Good standard of numeracy, literacy and IT skills
  • Strong organisational and time management skills to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Pride and high presentation to uphold excellent housekeeping standard

Salary: £23,986 to £25,000

Hours: 40 hours a week (5 days across 6 days – Mon-Sat)
