Job description: TRFS is committed to paying 40ph above the Scottish Government’s Living Wage declared 2024/25 rate for Social Care. This means from April 2024 we intend to pay £12.40ph i.e. 40ph above the Scottish Government’s committed rate.
The Blackford Complex Needs service in Paisley provides 24Hr support to 8 individuals who all experience Autism and for some individuals an associated Learning Disability. The service is made up of 2 houses with 4 people supported in each house, there is lots of space to engage in activities, develop new skills and meet each person’s sensory needs.
Everyone supported is incredibly unique with their own amazing personalities and hopes for how they want their lives to be. Each person has their own skills, interests and hobbies, some people enjoy learning to bake, sing, play games and have lots of fun. Other people may have a more curious interest in their surroundings and enjoy participating in a manner that suits them. What is true for everyone supported is they have lots of energy and love having fun, including being out in the huge garden area where people can ride bikes, use the sensory equipment or just enjoy the garden and being outdoors.

We are looking to recruit staff who are fully flexible and committed to assisting the people supported with all their personal goals. You will be part of a dedicated core team, providing full support with all aspects of peoples lives which includes assistance with personal care, support with cooking, general household tasks, shopping, attending appointments and achieving their personal outcomes. You will also receive physical intervention training (CALM) and join an experienced team full of enthusiastic staff that will mentor you, provide support and guidance and you will also receive excellent training including a VQ in social care.
There are a range of Complex Needs Practitioner posts available, both Full-time (39Hrs), and if you are looking for part-time but can be flexible, this could also be the service for you.
You will work 3 x 13Hr shifts over the course of a week, this will also include weekends on a rotational basis, paid sleepovers are also a requirement of the role (e.g. 10am till 10.00pm S/O then a 7am – 10am finish). Waking Nightshifts are also part of the shifts required and will be on a rotational basis.
People with experience in supporting those with Autism and learning disabilities will find this a great service to be part of, though if you have sound values, are flexible and want to make difference in peoples lives, we want to hear from you.
On top of this training we will also finance and support you to achieve your SVQ Level 2 Health and Social Care in-house!
About the Role:
Your responsibilities will depend on the needs of the individuals that you support and can include:
· Social Support- Assisting individuals to engage with their communities by planning and attending outings to various clubs and leisure activities such as day centres, bowling, cinema, swimming etc.
· Medical Support- Administering and monitoring medication.
· Personal Care- Assist people to maintain their wellbeing by promoting their personal care which would include assistance with showering/bathing, dressing, arranging visits with professionals such as dentists, doctors or opticians, assisting with incontinence care.
· Practical Support- Helping people to maintain their tenancy by encouraging daily household tasks such as general housework, laundry, ironing, cooking, shopping.
