Compliance Legal Assistant – Full / Part Time

Location: Farnborough

TSR legal are excited to be working with a highly ranked Legal 500 law firm who are now recruiting a Compliance Assistant to join their team in Farnborough. The successful candidate will be a part of the wider Compliance Team, alongside the Compliance Legal Assistant and report directly to the firm’s Risk & Compliance Manager.

The firm advise UK and international businesses and individuals, and pride themselves on providing long term support to their clients.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with the administration of the firm’s internal compliance function on a daily basis, including:

  • Performing compliance file audits and monitoring department file audits, liaising with the Risk & Compliance Manager regarding any corrective actions and associated reporting and follow ups;
  • Maintaining the firm’s compliance registers e.g. SRA, ICO and Compliance breaches, gifts and hospitality, complaints, claims.
  • Assisting the Risk & Compliance Manager with maintaining the firm’s SRA records and industry accreditations eg CQS;
  • Maintaining the firm’s compliance training registers;
  • Organising firmwide in-person training and maintaining the firm’s online training platform;
  • Assisting with new starter compliance engagement;
  • Assisting the Risk & Compliance Manager with practising certificate renewals;
  • Preparing materials in advance of compliance training, meetings and clinics.
  • Performing additional ad-hoc compliance associated tasks and activities as delegated by the Risk & Compliance Manager.
  • Assisting the MLRO with review of and commentary on source of funds and wealth evidence enquiries.
  • Performing administration tasks e.g. booking meeting rooms, booking training courses.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they are capable of working on their own initiative whilst being a strong team player. An ability to consistently maintain high standards will be essential as will excellent verbal, written, communication and I.T. skills. You will have the opportunity to liaise with lawyers and staff throughout the firm and support the wider Compliance team the successful candidate must be articulate and approachable.

Applicants must ideally be educated to degree level, either with or working towards an industry related qualification. Experience of working in the legal industry is preferred, and an interest in legal risk and compliance would be desirable. Strong research and data entry skills will be essential as well as excellent attention to detail and the ability to communicate confidently, prioritise workload efficiently and work under pressure in an environment and working pattern that changes daily.

This is a full-time role, but part-time (22.5+ hours a week worked over 4 or 5 days) will be considered. Salary will be dependent upon experience. Opportunities to train for professional compliance qualifications will be offered. Other benefits include free car parking, pension and a bonus scheme.
