To be responsible to, and deputise in the absence of, the Planning Policy Manager to provide a specialist service on conservation and listed buildings.
To advise the Planning Policy Manager and other senior officers as required on matters relating to conservation and listed buildings.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the Royal Borough’s strategic and detailed policies in respect of design and heritage and ensure the implementation of such policies in respect of statutory and non-statutory plans, local plans and schemes, development proposals, detailed plans, environmental and landscaping improvements.
- Process listed building consent applications and certificates of lawfulness of proposed works to listed buildings, covering all aspects. Prepare reports containing listed building assessments and recommendations and present reports to the Chief Planning Officer and Borough committees on relevant conservation and listed building issues.
- Provide specialist advice on all aspects relating to conservation and listed buildings including recommendations on applications and pre-applications for listed building consent and planning permission involving conservation and design related issues.
- Prepare and give evidence at public inquiries and appeals as required on conservation and listed building issues.
- Contribute to the Royal Borough’s strategic and detailed policies in respect of design and heritage and ensure the implementation of such policies in respect of statutory and non-statutory plans, local plans and schemes, development proposals, detailed plans, environmental and landscaping improvements.
Requirements
- Experience working in a council or housing association
- Must have experience of answering enquiries and providing specialist advice on heritage and design related issues.
- Must have an understanding and experience of conservation, heritage and design matters in relation to planning.
- Must have understanding of current legislation, Government regional and local policies and, procedures and current planning and conservation matters.
Contract
- Initial 5 month contract with the opportunity to extend
- PART TIME POSITION 17.5 HOURS A WEEK
- PAYE via Umbrella
