Job description: A reputable Legal 500 law firm based in Reading is seeking a Construction Solicitor to join its successful team. In this role, you will handle a wide range of construction law matters, both contentious and non-contentious. Use your expertise to provide comprehensive legal advice, guide clients through complex construction projects, and resolve disputes when needed. The firm’s clients include large developers, construction companies, or corporate owner/occupiers.

Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients on all aspects of construction law, including both non-contentious and contentious matters
  • Assisting with the resolution of construction related disputes including assisting with the conduct of adjudications, and court-based disputes – The work will be a mix of work acting for claimants and defendants
  • Draft, review, and negotiate construction contracts, agreements, and documentation
  • Provide legal guidance on construction project procurement, planning, and risk management
  • Manage disputes, including claims, arbitration, and litigation, related to construction projects
  • Conduct legal research to stay updated with construction laws and regulations
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project success
  • Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, and court proceedings when necessary
  • Work might involve assisting our real estate colleagues on the construction aspects of development transactions including development obligations, warranties and copyright issues

Requirements:

  • Qualified solicitor 3 – 10 years’ PQE with a background in construction law
  • Experience in handling both non-contentious and contentious construction matters
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, procurement, and project management
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Previous experience in a well-regarded law firm or construction practice
