Project: A large defence capital works programme which, over 15 years, will contribute to the upgrade of the UK’s strategic defence capability.

Mace (in partnership with the client and other industry organisations) will establish and subsequently manage the programme management organisation overseeing the delivery of numerous complex and varied capital works projects.

£10bn+ Defence nuclear construction programme based in central South-east England. A 10+ year programme to deliver a manufacturing capability including multiple projects. The programme is in a highly secure site and will require successful candidates to achieve SC+ clearance and work in live and strictly controlled environments that are operating at the highest levels of safety and security. The programme is established and currently in a planning and capability development phase in preparation for the delivery phase to begin in Q2 2025.

This position is a key part of the Construction Logistics Team that will provide construction logistics support to all construction activity on the Client’s sites. Reporting to the Head of Construction Logistics, the role holder is responsible for planning the development, implementation and management of the construction logistics systems required to plan and manage the delivery of construction logistics to the Client’s construction projects and programmes.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning, implementation and management of the construction logistics systems required to plan, measure, manage and report construction logistics activity across all of the Client’s construction activity.
  • Ensure the integration of construction logistics systems with the clients IS/IT architecture, existing systems and the requirements of the Client’s construction programmes and projects.
  • Manage the performance of systems providers, supporters/maintainers and Client functional support to the construction logistics systems.
  • Ensure that construction logistics systems deliver world-class performance including: stability; reliability; performance; and reporting.
  • Define the construction logistics systems requirement.
  • Creation and maintenance of a schedule for the delivery of construction logistics systems.
  • Managing the preparation and provision of system reporting information to the Construction Logistics Team, 3rd Party Logistics Partner and wider Client organisation.
  • Ensure that performance against planning constraints are accurately measured and potential breaches reported in sufficient time to enable effective proactive intervention to prevent breaches.
  • Deliver milestones/objectives set by the Head of Logistics and wider construction programme leadership.
  • Production, assimilation and dissemination of construction logistics systems information from all construction projects, contractors and other stakeholders.
  • Assimilating and validating the resourcing and cost estimates provided by a 3rd Party Logistics Partner for the delivery of construction logistics systems and support.
  • Coordinating and reporting the performance measurement of the construction logistics systems provider(s), managers and maintenance stakeholders.
  • Supporting the preparation of robust tender and contract programmes and documentation using the designated planning tool.
  • Producing project reports or data as required to meet the needs and deadlines of the Construction Logistics Team, the construction programmes and other stakeholders as required.

About you

You have strong experience of designing, managing and implementing construction logistics systems. You have a project management qualification or considerable experience of successfully delivering IT/systems projects to time, cost and quality. You are highly digitally savvy, can build lasting client relationships and lead strong, motivated teams. You will have a construction, construction logistics or consultancy background and the desire to grow your career and enjoy the opportunities Mace has to offer.
