Summary:
The role of a Continuing Healthcare lead for the local authority is critical in ensuring that individuals receive the necessary care, and that their CHC needs are recognised and agreed thus supporting the LA with the NHS CHC Team to comply with regulatory requirements including the CHC National Framework. Continuing healthcare may also apply to residents eligible for fast track who are, or near to end of life.
As an overview the CHC Lead will provide key leadership, oversight and coordination to the LA response to CHC. In that, key elements will include:
Management oversight of local authority CHC assessments cases and challenge
- Identifying the numbers of CHC cases
- Prioritising high cost reviews including review of income
- Oversight of the Councils approach to Continuing Health Care
- Oversight of all CHC case management activity
- Managing CHC disputes
- Providing learning and development to the ASC workforce of the CHC Framework
Experience and skills:
- Experience in healthcare or social care assessments.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and frameworks.
- Ability to analyse complex information and make informed decisions about individuals’ eligibility for continuing healthcare.
- Management of CHC
- Some experience of working in social care
Qualifications and Skills:
Educational Background:
- A diploma or degree in healthcare, public administration, or a related field, or social work
Negotiation Skills:
- Strong negotiation skills, including the ability to balance the needs of individuals with the financial constraints of the local authority.
- Understanding of healthcare financing, budgeting
- Effective communication skills to convey complex healthcare needs and financial information in negotiations and to liaise with internal stakeholders.
- Legal and Regulatory Knowledge:
- Understanding of CHC healthcare, and legal considerations
- Interpersonal Skills:
- Ability to build positive relationships with healthcare providers and internal stakeholders.
Expected salary: £350 per day
