This role is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Stoke warehouse, including receiving, storing, and dispatching goods ensuring that warehouse activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies and regulations.

Inventory Management: Overseeing the management of inventory within the warehouse. This includes maintaining accurate stock levels, conducting regular stock checks, and implementing inventory control measures to prevent discrepancies and stockouts.

Space Utilisation: Being responsible for optimising the use of warehouse space. This may involve designing storage layouts, maximizing shelf space, and ensuring that goods are stored in an organized and accessible manner.

Order Fulfilment: Manage the order fulfilment process, ensuring that customer orders are picked, packed, and shipped accurately and on time. This may involve coordinating with other departments, such as transportation, to meet delivery deadlines.

Quality Control: Oversee quality control procedures to ensure that goods are received and stored in good condition. They may also conduct inspections to verify the quality of outbound shipments.

Health and Safety Compliance: Implement safety protocols, conduct safety training, and enforce safety regulations to prevent accidents and injuries.

Staff Management: lead and manage a team of warehouse personnel, including supervisors, pickers, packers, and forklift operators.

Process Improvement: Identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance warehouse efficiency is a key aspect of the role. This may involve implementing new technology, streamlining workflows, or optimizing picking and packing processes.

Equipment Maintenance: oversee the maintenance and repair of warehouse equipment, such as forklifts, conveyor systems, and pallet racking. Ensure that equipment is in good working condition is vital for smooth operation.

Vendor Relations: interact with suppliers and vendors to coordinate the delivery and receipt of goods. This includes managing the receipt of inbound shipments and handling any discrepancies or issues with suppliers.

Reporting and Documentation: Maintaining accurate records and generating reports related to warehouse activities, including inventory levels, order fulfilment rates, and operational performance.

Cost Management: Managing warehouse expenses and optimising costs to stay within budgetary constraints. This includes monitoring labour costs, energy consumption, and other operational expenses.

Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, such as customs, safety, and environmental standards, especially when handling hazardous materials or international shipments.

Continuous Improvement: Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and implementing best practices to enhance warehouse efficiency and customer satisfaction

Hours of Work

Monday – Friday

08:00 – 18:00

Flexibility Required

Experience / knowledge / skills

  • Significant managerial experience
  • Knowledge of WMS systems including RF Scanners.
  • Proven experience running a high performing profitable contract logistics department.
  • Microsoft Word and Excel at intermediate level.
  • Able to promote and manage change.
  • Effective organisational and time management skills, inclusive of prioritising workload
  • Effective influencer and negotiator
  • Confident decision making and problem solving.
  • Able to deliver coaching/training.
  • Able to interpret statistics and data effectively.
