Over the last 50 years, Capel Manor College has helped thousands of school leavers and adults achieve their dream of working with animals, plants and the environment. As London’s environmental college, the College plays a vital role in the green agenda for the capital, equipping the next generation of land-based sector workers with the skills and knowledge needed to preserve and protect London’s wildlife, national parks and green spaces.
The College is now looking to appoint a part-time Counsellor and Wellbeing Officer to join its team at its Mottingham Campus. The post is permanent, term time only for 21.6 hours per week and there can be some flexibility with the working pattern. More hours may be available for the right candidate.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing one-to-one support to students who may have emotional or behavioural issues. They will assess individual student needs and work with students and tutors to suggest targeted support plans and strategies. They will also act as a Safeguarding Officer in the Safeguarding Team at the Crystal Palace Campus, to provide a high quality, responsive service to students experiencing welfare and safeguarding issues.
The ideal candidate will have an accredited Counsellor qualification and hold membership with the BACP, UKCP or BABCP or equivalent. They will have experience working with young people and experience working with clients from a wide range of backgrounds. They should have good organisational skills and the ability to work on their own initiative. A good understanding of safeguarding practices is also essential.
