Job description: Venn Group is working with a Local Authority in London to recruit an interim Cyber Security Engineer on an initial 3 month contract. The role will require some on-site attendance at the council offices in London but work can largely be caried out remotely.

The day rate for this role is £450 – £500 umbrella.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor organisational platforms and systems to detect cyber security events and to provide triage, investigation and response for cyber security incidents
• Deliver security assurance, ensure that all services and systems projects, and change management processes follow the cyber security assurance process so that any risks at go live are understood and mitigated
• Deliver cyber security threat intelligence and threat detection, and vulnerability management processes, identifying priorities, and proposing mitigations
• Continually improve, tune and develop the organisation’s cyber security toolset, systems and processes and defensive monitoring capabilities

Key Skills and Experience Required:

• Good technical knowledge of IT/Network infrastructure and security related technologies and related issues
• Knowledge and use of Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tooling
• Hands on experience of analysing network traffic to identify anomalous activity and potential threats to network resources to validate network alerts
• Previous experience in a public sector environment would be beneficial
