Purpose of role:
The key elements of the role will involve ensuring that HFG IT security runs securely & efficiently, driving forward new technologies.
You will implement new systems and support existing ones whilst producing support documentation and instructing IT colleagues. You will also be expected to maintain a technical awareness of technologies and innovations whilst investigating their suitability for HFG use.
The IT Security Team:
The team is responsible for providing a range of technical, operational and risk management services to sites and businesses managing and supporting the group’s IT Security landscape. - Core HFG security technologies:
- Microsoft Office, O365, Azure
- Darktrace NDR/Email protection
- Symantec endpoint protection
- Qualys (managed SOC service)
- Qradar (managed SOC sevice)
- Altiris patch management
This position will allow you to be a member of the IT Security Team. The company environment is fast-paced, fun, and exciting. We are a growing company, if you are the type of person who likes a challenge and loves learning new technologies.
Engineers are predominantly home-based with regional travel for quarterly team meetings and travel to production sites as required
You will be an experienced cybersecurity engineer who has the desire to further their career. You will be exposed to many different projects that create opportunity for personal and technical growth.
Key Responsibilities:
The Cyber Security Engineer will support teams across the group from a Cyber Security view. The detailed responsibilities of the team include:
- Technical Projects: Involvement in technical projects for technology deployments, upgrades, etc.
- Security Infrastructure Design and Implementation: Collaborate with IT and development teams to integrate security controls into the organisation’s technology stack
- Vulnerability Management:, Develop and implement strategies for remediation of identified vulnerabilities.
- Incident Response: Lead incident response efforts in the event of a security breach & perform digital forensics and analysis to determine the root cause of security incidents..
- Security Policy and Compliance: Enforce security policies, procedures, and standards. Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards, and participate in audits as needed.
- Security Awareness and Training: Conduct security awareness programs for employees to educate them on security best practices. Provide training to IT and development teams on secure coding practices.
- Security Monitoring: Working with SOC to respond to security incidents
- Documentation: Keeping documentation up to date and accurate.
- Monitoring: Monitoring systems for alerts and taking appropriate actions.
- Routine Checks: Performing routine checks such as security events
- SLA Adherence: Ensuring SLA’s (Service Level Agreements) are adhered to.
- Communication: Managing communication between stakeholders and external parties. Communicate security risks and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Process Improvement: Involvement in small internal projects to ensure continual process improvement.
Requirements:
The HFG Security Environment and technologies continually evolve to meet business need, therefore technologies listed will not be a definitive list. Experience and knowledge will be supported by education and training. Personal development plans will be in place to support you.
Technologies 3rd line essential capability
- Understanding of Security frameworks (NIST, CIS,ISO)
- Familiarity of SOC and SIEM tooling
- Experience within security operations and incident response
- Awareness and understanding of current and emerging threats and exploits
- Experience of working with outsourced security vendors who deliver security services
- Ability to perform security reviews based on KPI’s
- Experience in supporting BC & DR capabilities and managing compliance
- Ability to support risk assessment and project delivery
- Experience in achieving Security certification (Cyber Essentials/ISO)
- Understanding of application Security
- Experience of O365 security
- Working knowledge of networking technologies
- Able to configure equipment and troubleshoot complex environments.
Advantageous:
- Knowledge of Symantec security products
- Knowledge of Darktrace
- Experience with Netwrix
- Experience of nFront
Beneficial Accreditations:
- Security certification (Comptia Security+, CISSP)
- Microsoft security Accreditation
