Within our Compliance team in Bournemouth, we are looking to bring on board an experienced Deputy Compliance Manager to work in partnership with the existing team to support and ensure the standards of Regulatory Compliance are managed and maintained, primarily in the area of aircraft Base Maintenance (Part 145), Workshops and Training (Part 147) operations.
This is an exciting and varied new position within the structure, with a great deal of responsibility but also endless opportunity for impact within our processes. The role will primarily overseeing the Compliance System, providing support to the Compliance Manager on continuation training needs, assisting in investigations, maintaining of company approvals, and to assist as a point of contact for staff enquiries, such as licence applications and general questions.
The role will also require a level of auditing, where appropriate and as delegated by the Compliance Manager, to ensure compliance with EASA, UK CAA, FAA, MAA and other appropriate regulatory standards held by Gama Aviation (Engineering) Limited, thus maintaining a close liaison with the UK CAA and other Competent Authorities on matters affecting the approvals held.
The successful individual will have a flexible approach, being based onsite at our Bournemouth site on a full-time basis, however there may be requirements to travel to our other UK site’s such as Farnborough and Scotland, as well as visits to sub-contractors. The role may also include limited travel abroad for purpose of auditing our overseas facilities.

/ Responsibilities:
- In conjunction with the Compliance Manager, maintain and control activities of the organisation with regard to regulation and company legislative requirements
- To deputise for the Compliance Manager in their absence
- To ensure that the Compliance (Quality) procedures under their jurisdiction are reviewed and maintained by company procedures
- To carry out internal and external Audits as required by the Audit Programme, and to make recommendations as necessary to the Compliance Manager
- To assist the Compliance Manager in the control of 3rd Party Sub Contractors both for the Part 145 and Part 21 activities
- To assist the Compliance Manager in continuation training needs for all engineering staff
- To assist and support in the resolution of incidents and occurrences as part of the Gama Group Safety Management System (SMS)
- When needed, to issue on behalf of the Compliance Manager, authorisations as appropriate to suitably qualified and competent persons, and maintaining appropriate records
- To assist the Compliance Manager in promoting good practise across all Gama engineering activities with the adoption of joint procedures and process
/ Skills, Qualifications and Experience required:
Essential
- Extensive experience within Compliance / Compliance Assurance, preferably in an aerospace organisation engaged in aircraft or component maintenance and repair / modification
- Completed a recognised auditor’s course
- Conversant with current aerospace regulations, including Part 145 and 147
- Ability to demonstrate a working knowledge and understanding of the applicable regulation to a standard acceptable to the UK CAA and other authorities
- Possess excellent interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to compile written reports to a high standard
- Flexible individual with the ability to adapt to the needs of the organisation
Advantageous
- Possess an understanding of other regulatory standards such as Part 21 to which the organisation holds approval for
- Previous experience working within an aerospace environment
- Conversant with ISO9001 or a similar Compliance Standard
- Understand ICAO Safety Management principles
- Be eligible to hold a UK security clearance
