Bath Spa University are seeking a Deputy Management Accountant to join our Financial Planning, Reporting and Analysis Team.  This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys analysing large amounts of data and meeting a wide variety of people.  You’ll be in regular contact with a range of departments and will be a key point of contact within the team. (This is a 15 month Fixed Term Contract covering maternity leave, starting March 2024)

About the Role

As Deputy Management Accountant, you will report on progress towards achieving the Universities headcount target whilst providing accurate and timely advice to ensure workforce resources remain within approval limits. As part of your role, you will also produce monthly Workforce Management Information for the Senior Management team and budget holders, including reliable FY forecast outturn information that can be used in the decision-making process. Deputising for the Management Accounting & Partnering Manager, you will provide support and relevant financial guidance to budget holders within their remit as and when required. In addition, you will help deliver month end activities in accordance with the month end timetable (agreed with Head of FPR&A), including the pay reconciliation and adjustments, providing commentary as necessary.

About You

You will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role, and will be a proficient user of Microsoft packages, particularly Excel and Word. You will be experienced in analysing and reporting data, providing information to stakeholders, and ensuring adherence to finance policies and procedures.  You will also possess excellent interpersonal skills and be confident in building relationships with internal and external stakeholders, whilst effectively managing workloads while adapting to changing business needs. Attention to detail, independence, and a proactive attitude are crucial, along with the ability to collaborate within a small team.
