The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join an experienced team of payroll professionals, delivering end to end payroll provision for over 7,000 members across the UK, UAE, India and International Shadow Payrolls.

The Deputy Payroll Team Leader will manage the day to day activities of the payroll team to ensure Arup employees are paid in a timely and accurate basis in accordance with both statutory legislation and contractual entitlements.

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Deputy Team Leader will support in delivering a payroll service focused on operational excellence whilst ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.

You will assist the Payroll Manager in managing a team of 6 Payroll Advisors, setting clear expectations regarding performance and encouraging activities which promote growth, engagement, and wellbeing within the team.

The Deputy Payroll Team lead will be responsible for the organisation of all payroll activities including payments, reporting, accounting, and reconciliation. You will maintain stakeholder relationships focusing on collaborative working to improve procedure, governance performance and strategic goals.

You’ll keep up to date with payroll legislation developments and assess the impact on the business and team processes and instill a culture of continuous improvement, scope new solutions and efficiency opportunities.

Is this role right for you?

We are looking for people who:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of UK Payroll legislation along with a detailed understanding of HMRC requirements.
  • Knowledge of International Assignee payroll processing.
  • A keen eye for process improvement and efficiency opportunities along with the resilience to deliver them.
  • Knowledge and experience of payroll systems essential with Oracle 12.2.
