Job Description

The Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences (NDCN) is looking for a Deputy Quality Manager to join our team. We are a world-leading specialist laboratory that screens serum and CSF samples for pathogenic antibodies. These antibodies are associated with different central and peripheral nervous system diseases and early diagnosis of patients leads to better outcomes. We use live cell-based assays which present antibody-target proteins in a conformation that best represents how they exist in vivo leading to more accurate antibody tests. Responsibilities

 

  • Support the Quality Manager in the continual development, operation and monitoring of the laboratory quality management system, including non-conformity reports, quality objectives and key performance indicators
  • Support the development and maintenance of the laboratory documentation system to UKAS:15189 standards on iPassport
  • Support the Quality Manager in developing and running an internal audit system to UKAS:15189 standards
  • Support the Quality Manager in setting-up and running internal and external quality assurance programs
  • Register and store Clinical Trial serum samples
  • Support scientists in running diagnostic tests
  • Manage own laboratory and administrative activities, within guidelines provided by senior colleagues.
  • Carry out work to a high degree of health and safety excellence, and quality standards

Training will be provided for key aspects of this job such as running internal and external quality assurance schemes.

Selection Criteria

Essential

  • Qualified to MSc level in a relevant field
  • Previous experience of Quality Management Systems (QMS)
  • Experience in writing and amending QMS documentation, including SOPs, risk assessments and assay validations 
  • Ability and willingness to work co-operatively as part of a team as well as independently while taking personal responsibility for assigned tasks
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good organisational and computing skills and strong attention to detail, with the ability to organise and record results in a clear manner
  • Undertake other duties in the department from time to time as determined commensurate with the grade and responsibilities of this post, and any other reasonable request
  • Knowledge of database management systems

Desirable

  • Experience in the use of iPassport
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and GDPR

Salary :£32,332 – £38,205 per annum. A less experienced candidate may be appointed at Grade 5 (£28,759 – £33,966 per annum), with a commensurate adjustment in either the essential criteria, responsibilities or duties.

This post is full time and fixed term for 2 years in the first instance
