Job description: Location : Coventry, Warwickshire Role overviewMain Purpose of the RoleWe are looking for an Electrical / Mechanical Design Engineer to join our small Engineering team. You will be responsible for designing and producing electrical schematics and mechanical equipment layouts for control and distribution panels through to commissioning and providing technical Support for operational employees and external customers.You will be based at our site in Coventry working and reporting to the Design Engineering Manager. There is the opportunity to work a hybrid work pattern.Main Responsibilities:
- To design and produce electrical schematics and mechanical layout details for control and distribution panels.
- Produce mechanical steelwork fabrication designs.
- Provide technical support for operational employees and external customers
- Project Management of each job – design, technical, purchasing, quality, after care support and testing
- Apply knowledge, skill and experience to design and implementation of new innovative solutions
- Work to and maintain the production schedule
- Carry out contract reviews as per the requirements of the quality procedure
- Ensure all activities undertaken are fully compliant with quality management system and in accordance with health and safety requirements
Essential Criteria
- Qualified to HNC / HND in Electrical or Mechanical design – (or equivalent experience)
- Creation of electrical schematics and mechanical fabrication details using AutoCad.
- Creation of Bills Of Materials and purchase lists
- Excellent commercial knowledge and application
- Experience in product design lifecycle – from concept to introduction into manufacturing (ideally in safety critical industry)
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Passion for producing innovative design solutions
Desirable Criteria
- Experience / knowledge of rail industry
- PTS Holder
- Project Management Experience highly desirable
