We are a rapidly growing business that is looking for a solution leader who has delivery and sales experience to help us sustain our growth and to drive the design, technical development and delivery of our solutions. You will be responsible for leading a team of skilled enterprise and solution architects, analytics solution developers. decision scientists, and data analytics professionals providing transformational services to our public sector clients.
The Role
As a Technical Director, you will be responsible for, working with our Central Government team, leading, developing our next stage approach to this market. You will provide technical solution development and market expertise to help grow our public sector digital and data offerings across the UK. You will also contribute to the successful delivery of other KPMG services across the public sector while establishing a core set of analytics product services of your own related to central government.
You will build service offerings and take them to market, leading business development including managing bids and proposals and contributing to the development of KPMG’s services through knowledge management and methodology design. You will be responsible for leading successful delivery of product development programmes and engagements, taking ultimate responsibility for the quality of our work and client relationships.
You will manage teams of KPMG professionals on and off engagements, providing leadership and coaching to ensure excellent client delivery whilst enabling their future development. Work will be delivered nationally so willingness to travel is important.
The Person
- Subject Matter Expert (SME) – deep technical competence in digital products, with substantial experience of digital product development within a government context.
- Proven track record in the development and delivery of successful solutions that have delivered SaaS revenues in the central government context.
- Technical accreditations aligned to solution development such as: MS SQL Certification, MS Solutions Architecture Accreditation, TOGAF
- Experience in delivering technical product development programmes using Agile methodology. Agile project management or Scrum Master accreditation is desirable.
- Experience in a leadership role managing data analytics and digital projects, effectively engaging clients and senior stakeholders
- Product development and engineering competence – this is fundamentally a digital product leadership role and the successful individual will have deep digital design and engineering skill – with a proven track record of leading the development of digital platforms.
- The individual must have whole life-cycle digital development experience, including:
- Customer/User centred design
- Co-development with customers and customer forums
- Agile development management
- Sales and go-to-market experience
- Central Government domain competence – HMRC, DWP, DEFRA, Home Office, MOJ, MOD etc. Familiarity with the existing integration environment, data transfer standards (FHIR, HL7, SNOMED, IHEXDS etc) will be critical to the role.
- Experience of working with technology and management solution vendors and alliance partners.
- Platforms competence – the individual must be familiar with the Microsoft stack and have experience of working within the azure environment
Consulting and Commercial Skills
- Experience in a professional consulting practice or technical solutions development practice at a senior level.
- Direct experience of solution shaping during pre and post sales
- Ability to develop a customer and sales pipeline to achieve practice level sales targets
- Ability to identify patterns, trends and long-term possibilities; creating and shaping a vision of the future that fits in with client’s long term objectives
- Core consulting skills including business process analysis, financial analysis, performance assessment, project management and risk assessment are desirable
- Ability to build and maintain strong networks both internally and externally and to forge effective partnerships for the continuous improvement of services.
- Strong influencing skills across a wide body of stakeholders
- Resource and financial management skills to develop effective planning, financial management and reporting frameworks
- Manage allocated resources effectively, delivering business performance and value for money
