As the Project Operations Director for Tour & Retail you will lead and support the development of operations projects in new openings as well as existing business across global Tour & Retail. In order to work effectively, you will partner with the management teams across our Worldwide Tour & Retail (WWT&R) as well as Retail outlets, building relationships across a range of departments including Visitor Experience, Retail, Commercial, Marketing & PR, Finance, Technical Services, Facilities, buildings and construction teams, quantity surveyor, architects/ designers, and wider internal & external stakeholders.

Role Accountabilities

  • Represent the WWT&R operation on projects at project meetings relating to the design, build and operation of all projects and business expansions, ensuring that the teams have clear objectives and communication in clear
  • Establish strong relationships with key operational project stakeholders (including WWT&R support functions), allocate resources, and maintain ownership for timely delivery whilst communicating and mitigating any foreseeable business risks.
  • Maintain operational visibility during construction and design planning, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
  • Support creative development and operational delivery of new attractions and retail upgrades globally.
  • Contribute to the integration of new technology, including ticketing and inventory systems across post- as well as pre-opening periods.
  • Build a global perspective and cultural understanding across locations where we operate to ensure a wider perspective on labour laws, health and safety management and visitor behaviour is understood for the future development of Tours & Retail.
  • Ensure established emergency response processes align with WBD Business Resilience guidelines.
  • Ensure consistent values, procedures, and quality across the business to maintain operational standards and brand reputation.
  • Attend Senior Leadership meetings with Heads of Department across all project locations to support development and shared learnings for cohesive operations.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven commercial knowledge and ability to strategize on financial performance.
  • Confidence in financial statement appraisal and understanding of accounting.
  • Motivational leader who inspires success across global locations.
  • Ability to problem-solve, seek solutions, and drive decision-making.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and adaptable in changing business environments.
  • Capable of prioritizing workload, working under pressure, and delivering results both independently and as part of a team.
  • Prior experience in senior project management roles for new global and domestic project openings, ideally within visitor attractions, venues, or retail markets,
  • Proven complex, multi-stakeholder project management background with an emphasis on service, product presentation, and commercial strategy..
  • Familiarity with implementing new tech systems (e.g., ticketing, inventory control, POS).

Working Pattern

  • 40 hours a week.
  • Flexible to travel globally and extended international visits.
  • Prepared to work flexible hours across multiple time zones – the role is likely to include early start and later finishes to accommodate meetings in other time zones.
  • Candidate must be willing to fly, use public transport of all types in all counties, including long haul trips
