The Role and the Department

Careers & Enterprise sits within the Education Division, which is headed by the Pro Vice Chancellor for Education, and is part of the University’s developmental approach to ensuring effective student engagement, achievement and positive progression.

The Careers & Enterprise (C&E) Centre is a dynamic and developing team, operating across the university through subject departments, colleges, societies and industry facing initiatives to support the development and progression needs of students. It aims to help them meet the challenges and opportunities of the constantly developing employment market, and become the leaders and innovators of the near future.

The Fairs & Events Coordinator sits within the Employer Services Team, working in partnership with graduate recruiters and professional services staff across the institution delivering key events and activities to support the engagement of students with vital work experience and graduate employment opportunities. The role includes the organisation and marketing of a number of annual career fairs and recruitment events, as well as facilitating the marketing and promotion of graduate recruiters to support engagement.

Essential Criteria

Qualifications/Experience

  1. Five GCSE’s at least Grade C or level four (or equivalent) including English Language and Mathematics or a Post-16 qualification or equivalent experience.
  2. Experience in a similar role or environment.  
  3. Experience of working collaboratively with other team members to ensure the delivery of high-quality services.

Skills/Abilities/Knowledge

  1. Excellent spoken and written communication skills and the ability to develop effective working relationships, both internally and externally.
  2. Strong digital competence across a range of digital devices and apps including Microsoft 365 applications such as Excel, SharePoint, Outlook and social media.
  3. Committed to continuing professional development.
  4. Ability to solve problems yourself and as part of a team and plan appropriate solutions.
  5. Ability to effectively network, build and maintain relationships and exchange advice and information.
  6. Ability to contribute to operational planning activities including marketing to key stakeholders.
  7. Ability to work accurately to tight schedules and under pressure.
  8. Exceptional organisational skills and ability to prioritise one’s own workload.
  9. Experience of event management including establishing risk assessments, negotiating with venue’s and suppliers and key stakeholders

Desirable Criteria

  1. Experience of working in Higher Education.
  2. Understanding of the graduate recruitment market
