DB Engineering is looking for a proactive, Operational Technology engaged Mechanical Engineer with a data driven focus that thrives in a dynamic environment. This person will interface with a high-profile client, providing impact and influence for their growing portfolio of smart buildings. The ideal candidate will help drive digital buildings’ transformation, bridging the gap between the built environment and facility operations. In this position, the candidate will leverage knowledge of data analytics along with building system mechanical design and operation. This person will also work with younger engineers, providing technical feedback and mentoring where possible.
Preferred Locations: Redmond, WA, Boston, MA, or Washington, D.C.
Key Responsibilities * Operational Technology
- Review various Operational Technology platforms, such as the BMS, Metering, Lighting, etc., to identify cyber security risks, data availability, data integration means, device management, and operational improvements.
- Review and evaluate networking infrastructure and make recommendations to improve asset tracking, cybersecurity, networking management, and IoT infrastructure.
- Review and evaluate and make policy recommendations for virtual networks, firewall, and cloud infrastructure
- Evaluation of Building System Operations / Design
- Leverage HVAC mechanical engineering and building automation experience to analyze building system operation and design
- Stay current with industry trends, codes, and best practices in mechanical engineering
- Review and evaluate mechanical system designs, offering insights and recommendations to enhance system efficiency, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness
- Data Analytics
- Collect, process, and analyze data from building systems to identify opportunities for operational improvements
- Utilize SQL and data visualization tools to extract insights from massive data sets and support data-driven decision making
- Client Engagement and Management
- Work closely with interdisciplinary teams, weaving a wide array of stakeholders’ requests, concerns, and needs into an actionable plan
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships by understanding their needs, providing technical solutions, and delivering exceptional services
- Act as a primary point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries, concerns, and project updates
- Agile & Ownership Mindset
- Take ownership of relevant project scope – participate in game plan / backlog development with the appropriate client stakeholders, adapt when needed, and oversee junior engineers completing scope work
- Embrace an ambiguous / rapidly changing working environment, adapting to changing priorities and working with teams to continually execute
- Proactively anticipate client needs and demonstrate a solution-oriented approach to challenging situations
- Proactively identify risks, blockers, and mitigation strategies and work with stakeholders to resolve
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred
- 5-7 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a strong background in building infrastructure projects
- Proven experience with evaluating HVAC systems
- Understanding of Operational Technology systems, with experience in one or more areas.
- Strong proficiency in data analytics, with hands-on experience using SQL and data visualization tools
- Excellent scope management and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain client relationships
Salary Range: $85,000 – $100,000
