Heathrow Engineering Apprenticeship Programme

  • Applications should be submitted as soon as possible. This role will close earlier than the advertised date if we reach capacity.
  • Four-year rotational programme.
  • Please ensure you complete all of the the application questions as incomplete applications will not be considered.
  • You must be aged 16 or over and be willing to work in a shift-based role once you turn 18. You must be able to start the programme 2nd September 2024 and attend either Kingston or Uxbridge College (location to be confirmed in April) in year 1.

Engineering at Heathrow is unlike engineering at any other organisation. The sheer scale and scope of what our 550-strong team deliver and manage is immense. From water to energy, rail to roads and lighting to runways, our engineering team work across the airport on a huge range of exciting development, construction and maintenance projects covering our £14bn asset base.

Our civil and structural facilities range from 4 million square metres of airfield pavements to 180 kilometres of airside and landside roads. We maintain 50 tunnels, 31 bridges and 32 earth retaining structures, as well as a wide portfolio of buildings, including our terminals. We operate the largest private water distribution service in Europe and maintain assets unique to Heathrow, such as our automated transport ‘pods’ and track transit system (TTS).

Our Engineering team also look after baggage at Heathrow; across 30 miles of conveyors across 4 terminals and associated tunnels dealing with up to 150,000 bags a day.

By joining Heathrow Engineering you will have the widest and most diverse training in all electrical, electronic and mechanical systems as you help to keep our city within a city, open 24/7.
