Engineering Data Analyst

Location: Templecombe / Cheadle

About the Team

Thales Underwater Systems (UWS) design, develop, integrate and support Sonar Systems for anti-submarine warfare and mine hunting, have a fantastic opportunity for an Engineering Data Analyst to join a small yet diverse team.

You will sit in the UWS Engineering Operations Team who support the wider engineering organisation with services across a number of topics. This role will specifically support data analysis, decision-making and identification of corrective actions. This will be done in alignment with the UK data organisation, to ensure we maximise value from the work done.

Our Opportunity

You will be required to collect, organise and study data to provide business insight. Specifically working with the engineering operations team, the analyst will look to identify data opportunities within the UWS (engineering) operations and deliver data products to drive better value from identified data.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Identify, collect and migrate data to and from a range of systems
  • Manage, clean, abstract and aggregate data alongside a range of analytical studies on that data
  • Manipulate and link different data sets
  • Apply tools and techniques for data analysis and data visualisation (including the use of business information tools)
  • Summarise and present data and conclusions in the most appropriate format for users

About You

  • You can identify appropriate ways to collect, collate and prepare data. You can decide if data is accurate and fit for purpose
  • You will have the ability to build good relationships with key stakeholders, team members and the wider business

Nice to haves…

  • You can show an interest / awareness of the need for careful analysis of research data to produce clear findings
  • You can show an interest / awareness of organisational data governance, and how it works in relation to other organisational governance structures
  • You have interest / awareness on producing data models and have an understanding on where to use different types of data models
  • Able to build excellent relationships with key internal and external stakeholders based on trust and confidence
