Job description: Do you have a passion for translating complex information into simple, easy to understand documentation? We’re hiring an Engineering Documentation Specialist for our manufacturing facility in Raymond, MS. If you possess:

  • Experience in developing standard operating procedures and technical work instructions from a variety of sources.
  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial technology, industrial engineering, or equivalent field.
  • Understanding of SDLC (systems development lifecycle)

As an Engineering Documentation Specialist:

What you will do:

  • Develop comprehensive documentation that meets the needs of the document user (Work Instructions / Standard Operating Procedures). This includes writing from engineering notes, drawings, pictures, observations, and interviews, as well as gaining an understanding of equipment used and components required.
  • Gather information from subject-matter experts and develop, organize, and write procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation.
  • Research, create, and maintain information architecture templates that adhere to organizational and legal standards and allow for easy data migration.
  • Gain deep understanding of products and services, and translate complex information into simple, polished, engaging content.
  • Write user-friendly content within established guidelines, arrange document information in logical order, and check for grammar, illustration correctness, etc.
  • Develop and maintain detailed database of reference materials, including research, usability tests, and design specifications.
  • Evaluate current content and develop innovative methods for improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Additional Qualifications Include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial technology, industrial engineering, or equivalent field preferred; will consider applicants with an associate degree in a technical field also.
  • Understanding of SDLC (systems development lifecycle)
  • 1-2 years of experience in technical writing, engineering documentation, etc.
  • Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex subject matter.
  • Experience in writing documentation and procedure manuals for various audiences
  • Excellent written communication skills, with a keen eye for detail; ability to communicate and work with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
