Job Summary:
seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineering Technician to play a vital role in troubleshooting tooling issues and supporting projects aimed at enhancing manufacturing tools and fixtures. Working closely with tooling and manufacturing engineers, you will contribute to the improvement of product quality for fans, wheels, and blower packages through documentation, reverse engineering, and CNC programming.
Job Duties:
- Under the technical guidance of engineers, analyze and troubleshoot tooling problems, implementing corrective actions for efficient and high-quality manufacturing solutions.
- Assist in identifying the tools, jigs, fixtures, or new equipment required for new production or enhancements to existing production lines.
- Create comprehensive tooling documentation by employing reverse engineering techniques, including manual measurements and 3D scanning.
- Design tooling details, jigs, and fixtures, utilizing your expertise in reading and interpreting technical blueprints and design models.
- Utilize CNC software to program cutting paths, feeds, and speeds for various tool steels, adjusting machine settings to optimize production while ensuring quality standards.
- Load and clamp raw materials into CNC machines, align parts for machining, home the machine, and prepare tool holders for executing CNC programs.
- Conduct quality assurance tests to verify that parts meet design specifications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with machines and programs as they arise, performing basic machine maintenance such as cleaning and sharpening.
Qualifications:
- Possess an Associates Degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering Technology, demonstrating a strong mechanical aptitude for general machinery.
- Proficient in Solidworks or a similar 3D modeling package.
- Familiarity with CNC programming software such as G-code, BobCAD-CAM, Esprit CAM, or equivalent.
- Prior experience as a CNC programmer, including expertise in surface machining and hard milling, is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of surface modeling, surface continuity issues, laser scanning/reverse engineering, and 3D printing/additive manufacturing is a plus.
- Positive and professional attitude with a strong attention to detail.
- Capable of standing for extended periods and lifting up to 40 pounds for short durations.
- Availability to work weekends and overtime as needed.
