The role
As an Engineering Technician, you will have a role that is out of the ordinary, you will be responsible for the preparation, maintenance and operation of the Banshee Jet80, Propeller Banshee and Firejet aerial target systems.

Day-to-day, in addition to preparing the targets you will also be required to maintain and operate their complex launcher systems and also set up and maintain all of their associated radio control equipment.

  • Build, functional test, repair and disassembly of aerial targets and associated payloads, in accordance with operator manuals and service bulletins.
  • Problem solving and fault diagnosis on targets and launchers including complex electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Handling and preparing pyrotechnics.
  • Conducting target retrieval from recovery areas.
  • Engine ground running.
  • Maintenance of all Ground Support Equipment where specified.
  • Use of specialist towing and lifting equipment for target movement.
  • Working in a small team you must be proactive and self-motivated to work unsupervised when required.

Essential experience of the Engineering Technician

  • Have experience of working in a highly regulated and safety critical environment.
  • Have a reasonable level of physical fitness as the role involves frequent manual handling.
  • Be willing to work outside for extended periods in all weather.
  • Be calm and able to work well when under pressure.
  • Be a good communicator, both written and oral, maintaining accurate records of work carried out

Qualifications for the Engineering Technician

  • Ideally, you will hold a recognised mechanical engineering qualification or have completed a relevant mechanical engineering apprenticeship. Knowledge and interest of aviation and UAV systems is highly desirable.
  • Hold a Full UK Driving Licence.
