Job description: Job descriptionThis contract with our central government client is for a Environment, Energy and Fire Protection Advisor for 7 months. The role is located in Cornwall and has a pay rate of £350 UMB / £260.50 PAYE per day.The successful candidate will support the Raleigh Executive in the development of an effective safety management system for HMS Raleigh and Outstations which meets appropriate legislation and policyThe role is to provide information and oversight to the Command and wider authorities as necessary regarding Utility Matters and use, and Environmental Protection, and Fire safety Management, the role is also the estate focal point for Fire safety and the establishment fuels operating authority. Subsidiary roles also involve noise, climate change, biodiversity, conservation, waste management and radiation protection.Responsibilities include:a. To develop and implement an Environmental Management System which will ensure HMS RALEIGH, its Outstations and Lodger Units (the establishment) comply with their Policy and applicable environmental legislation. The system is to lead to a programme of continuous improvement in environmental performance.b. To provide policy and arrangement statements and other information to the Establishment as required by legislative or their inputsc. To incorporate environmental performance indicators in the environmental management plan alongside improvement initiativesd. To act as the establishment Utilities liaison with out client and assist in engendering behavioural change to improve the energy culture of establishment personnel.e. To be the Appointed Operating Authority for Fuels Management oversight and licensing in accordance with their Policy and UK Law and to provide a safe operation system for HMS Raleigh.f. To act as the Pollution Control Officer for HMS Raleigh, to ensure compliance with current and future legislation and Policy. To develop and maintain a spillage response system and provide or arrange spill control training.g. To act as the Waste focal point for streams outside of the Hestia contract. To develop and write such plans orders and provide controls as required under current and future legislation to ensure compliance. To develop systems to analyse and reduce waste arisingsh. To be the Appointed Establishment Fire Focal point (EFFP) and provide a fire safety management system that provides a successful route to compliance with their PolicyI. To develop and provide executive department assistance in the formation and continuity of a Port Marine Safety Code management scheme in liaison with the Royal Naval School of Seamanship (RNSOS)Requirements
- IOSH Managing Safely
- NEBOSH General Certification
- Proven experience of Energy and Environmental protection: At least three years’ experience.
- Excellent IT skills, including knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office, particularly EXCEL.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to quickly form collaborative teams and partnerships with business colleagues and external contractors to produce timely, accurate and effective management information.
- An aptitude for working with data and figures. With a track record of creating, maintaining and manipulating spreadsheets in Excel to a high standard.
- Ability to work to tight timescales and to react quickly to short notice requirements.
