Job Description
The Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (ED&I) Consultants will join the University’s specialist ED&I team, which sits in the Human Resources Division. The team is responsible for designing and delivering an ambitious programme of institutional and cultural change at the University. The team is forward-looking and committed to creating effective equality solutions.
The Consultants work with the Head of ED&I and the University’s leadership, alongside academic and other professional services colleagues, to deliver the University’s ED&I strategy using a change and project management approach to embed ED&I within institutions.
The Role:
As ED&I Consultants, you will play a pivotal role in advancing the University’s strategic objectives. Your responsibilities include providing strategic advice, spearheading specific tasks and projects, and taking a leadership role in designated protected characteristics or policy areas. You will be instrumental in driving the University’s ED&I agenda by supporting the implementation of a comprehensive framework designed to promote inclusive staff recruitment, representation, and overall experience. Additionally, as ED&I Consultants, you will contribute strategically to ensure statutory compliance, oversee equalities monitoring and reporting, and conduct Equality Impact Assessments. You will also be a key facilitator for various committees and working groups and strategically lead on the University’s participation in national equality charters or benchmarking for your specific ED&I specialist area.
About you:
In order to succeed in this role, you will have current and comprehensive knowledge of the sector, proficiency in best practices, knowledge of relevant legislation i.e. Equality Act 2010, and a track record of translating equality initiatives and strategy into tangible results. You will bring substantial experience in analysing and presenting ED&I data, as well as a proven ability to develop compelling cases and prepare formal reports that effectively communicate ED&I issues and solutions to a diverse and independent-minded community. An essential attribute is the ability to understand sensitivities related to the ED&I agenda and devise innovative strategies to enhance engagement.
