Salary: Full time starting salary is normally in the range £31,396 to £33,966 with potential progression once in post to £38,205. Grade: 6

This post sits in the Business Engagement and Research Impact function and reports to the Head of Communications and Engagement.

Role Summary

Working closely with the Events Manager and Digital Project Manager, the post holder will be responsible for the organisation and delivery of a programme of high-profile events and marketing activities aimed at businesses and other funder types, in line with University priorities, focused on business engagement and research impact. The post requires a tenacious, highly organised and creative person with an eye for detail and a great sense of occasion. The role will work collaboratively with colleagues across RSSD, particularly in the business engagement and research impact function, the wider University and with external partners to raise the profile of the University, our research offering and our collaborations to a variety of local, national and international industry audiences. 

Required Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience

  • Demonstrable experience in event organisation/management, enabling a successful and consistent programme of events based on agreed communications and stakeholder strategies in line with priorities.
  • A good understanding of stakeholder and customer relationship management, including stakeholders in business and industry, funding councils and government departments.
  • Customer service skills and an ability to promote a positive image of the University
  • Self-motivated, well organised and able to prioritise workloads to meet deadlines
  • Evidence of good literacy and numeracy, with the ability to write clearly, excellent oral communication skills and the ability to analyse information and data.
  • Meticulous degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Digitally literate and competent and confident in the use of relevant digital tools and packages (e.g. Microsoft Office, CMS, Adobe and/or CRM systems)
  • Experience of writing copy for social media and for web and managing content in the content management system (CMS)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and able to make quality improvements to communications and marketing activities based on information and data gathered.
  • Degree level or equivalent qualifications or experience in a relevant role
  • Knowledge of the protected characteristics of the Equality Act 2010, and how to actively ensure in day to day activity in own area that those with protected characteristics are treated equally and fairly.
  • Knowledge of the issues facing the Higher Education sector
  • Knowledge of social media trends
