So you can look forward to awesome opportunities in everything from AI to reusable tech.The role:Our Sainsbury’s grocery app has over x users and helps customers get food for every occasion delivered to their door or collected from their local store. It is not just the weekly shops; it’s planning food for special occasions, ordering urgent supplies and everything in between. At Sainsbury’s, our app aims to help customers plan, order and receive their food however and whenever they want it.As an Experience Designer, you will be responsible for understanding how our customers shop with us, what their pain points are what the moments of delight could be while they’re using our app. You will have access to research and insights and work really closely with our grocery online app product and engineering teams. You will take those customer pain points and the business needs and design solutions that make customers’ grocery shops through the app as easy and fun as possible.We work agile so you will be in our Digital Experience Design Team but you will be working very closely with product and engineering to make sure we are consistently putting the customer at the heart of what we do.You will be working within a team of experienced product managers in the business; engineers and stakeholders from other parts of the operation who will rely on your knowledge of user experience, accessibility, and interaction design.You will have had lots of experience of user experience design for native apps (iOS and Android) and be able to use design thinking to plan out that work, getting feedback from stakeholders. With tight feedback loops and the ability to bring about huge changes to our customers, this position offers an extremely rewarding design role.What you will do:

  • Work with our researchers and journey managers to understand the customer journeys and customer pain points.
  • Perform your own desk and in-store research to explore and iterate design solutions.
  • Organise design workshops with stakeholders to articulate customer and business problems and what the possible solutions might be.
  • Interact with stakeholders from across the group to share insights and ideas.
  • Work with the Design Systems team to understand which components exist and contribute back ideas to improve the customer experience.
  • Work with the content strategists and accessibility specialist to make sure you are design the best experience for all our customers and colleagues.
  • Design and test concepts and solutions.
  • Work within agile teams across product, design, and engineering to get your solutions into the hands of our customers and colleagues.
  • Be part of an exciting design community, pairing up with other designers and sharing ideas to constantly iterate the customer experience.

Skills we are looking for:

  • Industry experience as a UX / UI or Product Designer is essential
  • Strong visual, interface and interaction design skills
  • Expertise designing and prototyping with tools such as Figma
  • Capable of conducting research and interpreting results
  • Knowledge of how to design inclusively
  • Influence and negotiation skills
  • Adaptable to changing priorities, complexity and unknowns
  • Confidence challenging your peers and stakeholders
  • Taking the initiative and driving change
  • Tailoring your approach for different audiences
