The ISIS Experimental Operations Division is seeking a Group Leader for the Electrical and Electronic User Support Group (EEUSG). The EEUSG provides electrical and electronic support for all our beamline instruments and is key in delivering many of the experiments carried out at ISIS. The Group also have a thriving project development section that has an integral role in producing bespoke equipment and devices needed by our scientists for their experiments. The Group also have a growing motion control section which supports many of the beamline instruments’ key components, including motor driven parts and systems to allow experiments to be controlled remotely.   

Responsibilities:

  • Provide day to day leadership, supervision, and people management to a multidisciplinary team of engineers.
  • Ensure the Group stays up to date with industry trends and best practices and to apply this knowledge to drive innovation and growth through the guidance set out in the ISIS Project Management Framework.
  • Showcase the work of the Group at conferences and workshops both within the UK and internationally and encourage such activity from all members of the Group. 

Person Specification:

The below criteria will be assessed at Shortlisting (S), Interview (I), or both (S&I)

  • Qualified to degree level, or equivalent, in Electronics / Electrical Engineering or have significant experience in electronics/electrical or related work.
  • Demonstrate a high level of leadership and management experience of a technical team where they have shown the ability to develop and implement strategic plans.
  • Demonstrate strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Be able to clearly describe their contributions to electrical/electronic projects that showcase their technical background and achievements.
