We are seeking a Facilities Manager and Health and Safety Officer at the Nuffield Division of Clinical Laboratory Sciences.  This is a multi-faceted role, providing Health and Safety and Facilities management as well as additional support as identified and required by the Business Manager. This key role will ensure that the department has a high level of compliance with University policies, HASMAP and HTA and also proactive leadership on Health and Safety Maters.

The successful applicant will be responsible for project managing departmental building related projects and deputising for the Business Manager on facilities and health and safety matters as required. They will ensure effective policies, associated procedures and training packages are in place across the department and will undertake facilities projects including but not limited to new equipment installations, lab refurbishment and improved service delivery.

It is essential that the successful candidate has demonstrable relevant experience in health and safety management in a relevant environment and good knowledge of relevant statutory UK/EU legislation relating to building systems, waste management and health and safety.  It is also vital that they have experience of budget management, the ability to work on own initiative, the ability to prioritise multiple projects and report effectively.

It would be desirable if the postholder had a good understanding of facilities management issues and procurement procedures including the tendering of maintenance contracts.  It would also be beneficial to the role if they held the appropriate Health and Safety qualifications such as NEBOSH National General Certificate of IOSH Managing Safety.
